About Ngqushwa Municipality

traditional_women Ngqushwa Local Municipality, located in the Eastern Cape,is bounded on the East by the Fish River and on the South by the Indian Ocean.The municipality is an amalgamation of two towns namely, Hamburg and Peddie. It is one of the eight municipalities that fall under the Amathole District Municipality. With its natural beauty and character (especially in the coastal areas), Ngqushwa is a wonderful tourist attraction that prides itself in its rich history and heritage.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION MEETINGS

GENERAL VALUATION PROCESS

All members of the Public are invited to attend the Public Participation meetings where the General Valuation process will be explained in detail. The Ngquswa Local Municipality is in the final phase in the process of valuing and rating all the properties in its jurisdiction in accordance with the Municipal Property Rates Act of 2004.

The Municipal Property Rates Act is a national law that regulates the power of a municipality to value property and levy taxes fairly according to its market value. Members of the Public will be given a chance to air their views and ask questions.

Kindly be informed that Ngqushwa Local Municipality offices in Hamburg have been relocated to the Town Hall due to the development of the Hamburg Town Centre Upgrade which is taking place on the site of the old municipal building.
